Secondary Phases of Reopening Plan Begin
After seeing a continued hold of less than 3% positive test rate, additional phases including the reopening of indoor dining (at 50% capacity), specialty retail stores, gyms, tanning salons and other businesses are green lit to open throughout next week. CDC and other state guidelines are still in effect for those returning to work or utilizing these business functions.
For a full review of the State's plan for reopening, which includes the various phases by week, please click HERE.
The ABCWV Offices in Charleston, which have been manned remotely for the most part, fully reopened on May 5th. The office will continue to be regularly sanitized for members to use any of the available space to them.
Five counties remain under stricter state guidelines as designated "Hot Spots." The following counties still remain under stricter orders in which the local public health departments are providing guidelines for essential business and public activity alike to adhere to. You can find the link to those health departments below:
ABCWV Event Changes (UPDATE)
ABCWV has temporarily postponed the following events scheduled to occur in the Spring of 2020.
- The ABCWV Power Park Event in Charleston, WV
- The Annual ABCWV Fishing Tournament in Sutton, WV
- The Annual Spring Golf Classic in Glade Springs, WV
- The Annual Sporting Clays Tournament in Hunting Hills, PA
- The Annual Summer Meeting at Snowshoe Mountain
These events will remain on the ABCWV calendar for 2020. We are currently discussing optional rescheduling dates with the venues and anticipate having them relisted within a few months time should the trajectory of the state and federal response remain positive with regards to its COVID-19 response.
**ABCWV has officially canceled the 2020 Destination Meeting set for Key West, FL in early April.
The ABC National Legislative Conference set for late June has also been canceled this year. Many of our members attend this event as a means to meet directly with our federal representatives. Despite the time frame, nearly all "fly-ins" for various associations nationally have been canceled for 2020 to protect our leaders in DC as well as those traveling to the area which has seen a larger than normal outbreak. ABC National will still hold virtual legislative briefings that week as well as the National Board Meeting.
The U.S. House of Representatives returned to D.C. after nearly a four week hiatus with a new package to provide to U.S. Citizens and Businesses. The price tag is set at $3 trillion dollars and much like the initial CARES Act includes numerous spending proposals that GOP leaders in the House and U.S. Senate balked at having no direct correlation to economic relief during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They would also include another direct stimulus payment to all U.S. residents under certain income levels and would essentially mirror the first stimulus payments that were released under the CARES Act.
Senate Leaders are working to craft compromise legislation that will focus squarely on economic relief and are anticipated to have something in discussions with the House by next week.
President Trump has lifted his national social distancing guidelines and is now leaving the reopening plans directly with the states while still providing CDC guidelines for them to adopt. Some states such as Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and here in West Virginia are pushing much more aggressive reopening plans. States such as Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan are still taking much slower approaches.
As federal updates continue to be provided directly to you and to us by our team in Washington D.C. at ABC National, we will continue to monitor changes on every level to provide the membership.
